Questions worth exploring

Gentle Technologies explores how technology can become more ethical, collaborative and attentive to living systems. Our research begins with observation and develops through dialogue, conceptual work and practical experimentation.

CURRENT STAGE

Independent research in development

These directions are currently being developed through conceptual notes, ethical analysis, observation, dialogue and early prototypes. They are not presented as completed scientific findings. We distinguish clearly between questions, hypotheses, practical experiments and evidence.

As the work grows, we hope to develop these ideas together with researchers and practitioners from bioethics, human–computer interaction, artificial intelligence, biomedical science and related fields.

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

Three connected fields of inquiry

HUMAN–AI COLLABORATION

Outelligence

● CONCEPTUAL RESEARCH

Outelligence describes intelligence that emerges through interaction. It is not located entirely inside a human or an artificial system; it forms through questions, responses, disagreement, reflection and mutual refinement.

Core question

How can collaboration between people and AI produce new understanding while preserving human autonomy, responsibility and the right to disagree?

BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH

Living Model

● LONG-TERM RESEARCH VISION

Living Model is a long-term vision for computational organisms that develop over time and model biological processes across multiple levels. Such models could be continuously improved using ethically obtained experimental and clinical knowledge.

Core question

Can knowledge gained from existing research gradually create better digital models and reduce the need for future animal experimentation?

This is an early research vision, not a validated replacement for biological or clinical research.

HUMAN–SYSTEM INTERACTION

Gentle Interaction

● OBSERVATION & DESIGN RESEARCH

Gentle Interaction examines what happens when people encounter systems in unusual, stressful or ambiguous situations. A technically correct response may still create confusion, pressure or unnecessary embarrassment.

Core question

How can interfaces respond clearly to unusual human behaviour without punishment, manipulation or avoidable emotional pressure?

APPROACH

How the work develops

01 — Observe

Notice how people, interfaces and institutions behave in real situations, especially where ordinary systems create unnecessary friction.

02 — Question

Examine the assumptions behind the system: whose needs are prioritized, what choices remain available and where responsibility is placed.

03 — Prototype

Turn ethical questions into interfaces, products and models that can be examined more concretely.

04 — Test and revise

Seek criticism, compare intentions with actual effects and revise the idea when evidence or experience challenges it.

Research grows through conversation

If you work in a related field, see a weakness in one of these ideas or would like to explore a question together, we would be glad to hear from you.
